The landmark summit brought together African Heads of State, policymakers, climate finance leaders, development partners, and stakeholders from across the continent to advance green growth, climate finance solutions, and collective climate action for Africa.
The Challenge
As a 7-day multinational summit involving high-level policy discussions, ACS2023 required professional simultaneous interpretation services in Nairobi to support seamless multilingual communication across 4 conference rooms at KICC. The interpretation setup needed to accommodate varying room layouts, technical requirements, and sensitive diplomatic sessions involving multiple African Heads of State.
The Solution
Congress Rental East Africa deployed a tailored simultaneous interpretation system across 4 conference rooms at KICC, including the Amphitheatre, 1 breakout room within the main KICC building, and 2 breakout sessions within the Side Event Tents. Each room was equipped with a customized conference interpretation setup designed to meet its acoustic and operational requirements.
Across the deployment, interpreters operated from ISO-compliant soundproof interpreter booths, while delegates accessed translated audio through digital infrared interpretation receivers, ensuring clear, uninterrupted multilingual conference communication throughout the summit.
Collaboration & Delivery
Working in close coordination with technical partner Audio Visual Engineering, Congress Rental East Africa provided dedicated simultaneous interpretation support across 4 critical summit spaces at KICC, particularly the Amphitheatre, which hosted sensitive meetings, including a closed session between multiple African Heads of State, 1 breakout session within the main KICC building, and 2 breakout sessions within the Side Event Tents. This tailored deployment enabled professional multilingual conference communication across some of the summit’s most important sessions.
The Venue
The Amphitheatre Interpretation Setup
The KICC Amphitheatre hosted sensitive high-level meetings, including closed-door sessions involving multiple African Heads of State. The venue was equipped with Bosch delegate discussion units to support conversational dialogue, while delegates accessed interpreted audio in their preferred language through digital infrared receivers . Breakout Sessions - KICC Building and Side Event Tents
The breakout sessions began operations 3 days after the Amphitheatre. In 1 breakout room within the main KICC building, interpreters operated from built-in interpreter rooms, with their audio feed routed through Congress Rental East Africa’s system before being relayed to delegates through digital infrared receivers.
In the remaining 2 breakout rooms at the KICC Side Event Tents, interpreters operated from ISO-compliant interpretation booths, with their audio feed similarly routed through the system before being relayed to delegates through digital infrared receivers.
