Simultaneous Interpretation Services for Women Deliver 2023 at Kigali Convention Centre

Congress Rental East Africa delivered high-level simultaneous interpretation services for Women Deliver 2023 (WD2023), a leading global conference focused on advancing gender equality and the health and rights of girls and women worldwide. Held at the Kigali Convention Centre, the four-day summit brought together global decision-makers, advocates, policymakers, and development leaders for in-person and virtual engagement designed to strengthen partnerships and elevate country-level perspectives.

The Challenge

To support multilingual communication for a diverse international audience participating both in person and virtually, WD2023 required professional simultaneous interpretation services across 15 conference rooms at Kigali Convention Centre. The interpretation setup needed to accommodate plenary meetings in the main auditorium while also providing scalable multilingual support across 14 breakout sessions in a way that was both operationally efficient and cost-effective.

Our Solution

Congress Rental East Africa deployed a tailored simultaneous interpretation system across 15 conference spaces at Kigali Convention Centre, with each room customized to its acoustic and technical requirements. For plenary meetings in the KCC Auditorium, interpreters operated from ISO-compliant soundproof interpretation booths, while delegates accessed interpreted audio through digital infrared receivers for clear, uninterrupted multilingual conference communication.

For the remaining 14 breakout sessions, Congress Rental East Africa integrated Interprefy’s Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) module into its interpretation system, enabling remote interpreters to deliver live multilingual interpretation that was routed seamlessly back into the conference audio infrastructure before being transmitted to delegates through digital infrared receivers.

Drawing on our  previous experience at Kigali Convention Centre, Congress Rental East Africa was engaged by Planitswiss for specialist guidance and simultaneous interpretation support tailored to KCC operations. We also integrated seamlessly with Interprefy’s remote multilingual interpretation platform, combining on-site interpretation infrastructure with Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) technology to deliver reliable multilingual conference communication across all breakout sessions.

Plenary Sessions | KCC Auditorium

Given the auditorium’s circular stadium-style seating configuration and central speaker stage, Congress Rental East Africa designed a tailored simultaneous interpretation setup that integrated with the venue’s wider technical systems, ensuring uninterrupted infrared coverage throughout the 2,250-seat auditorium. This enabled delegates to access live interpretation clearly through digital infrared receivers in their preferred available language.

Breakout Sessions | KCC Meeting Halls and Terrace

For the 14 breakout sessions across the KCC meeting halls and terrace, Congress Rental East Africa partnered with Interprefy to provide Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI), creating a scalable and cost-effective multilingual conference solution that maintained continuous communication across all breakout sessions without the logistical burden of deploying multiple on-site interpreters per language.

The Outcome

Throughout the four-day summit, every attendee had access to live interpretation in the available languages, enabling seamless multilingual participation across plenary sessions, breakout discussions, and virtual engagement spaces.
